HGH as an important factor in weight control

Obesity. It’s a big problem, especially in developed countries, and it can affect young and old alike. Body fat is usually characterized by the “spread” around the belly, and with it comes a multitude of problems, of which we as a modern society should be familiar with by now.

Heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, low sex drive, and sleep apnea are some of the associated troubles that obesity invites. It is now firmly established, that diabetes type 2, is directly related to obesity. The fatter the person, the more prone he/she is to developing this dreadful disease, which is caused by insulin resistance. The more padded the belly is, the greater the risk!

On the whole, fat people produce less HGH in their bodies, in contrast to normal-weight people. This exacerbates the situation even further: Less HGH = more body fat.

The link between HGH and fat breakdown

obesity.jpgFat is broken down by a process called lipolysis. These fat cells actually have a receptor that is meant for the growth hormone to bind onto. When HGH binds to the receptors it starts a series of chain reactions in the cell that invariably lead to the breaking down of fat.

In fact, HGH actually operates in reverse of insulin, which explains why it is such a good fat burner. Insulin’s purpose is to store away glucose in the form of glycogen. The glycogen is turned into fat (triglycerides), should there be an excess (lipogenesis).

HGH limits the action of insulin by inhibiting the cells from insulin take-up. Thus the cells do not store as much glucose as they would without growth hormone to “block” them.

Can HGH promote insulin resistance?

The results of studies show that it doesn’t promote insulin resistance, because HGH actually goes straight to work attacking the “spare tire” around the waistline, which is the number one reason for increased insulin resistance, not HGH itself. When the spare tire starts going away, people usually report feeling a whole lot better, and their sensitivity to insulin actually starts to return.

HGH actually promotes muscle mass in place of the lost fat

This is the well known part – HGH helps the body to build on muscle mass and strength to replace the lost body fat; provided you also embark on a weight training regimen. That’s why in the world of sports, HGH abuse is high; word has long gone out that HGH happens to be one of the best muscle building agents around. I’ll talk more about this aspect in future posts..
